I did not draw this. My friend, Wendy, 17 years old, drew this. Wendy loves to draw. In fact, she drew beautiful girls wearing fashionable dresses and handsome boys and gave it to her friends in school as their memorabilia. How thoughtful she was!
One afternoon, after work, I saw the above masterpiece posted on the wall of my rented house. I don’t know what the owner will say about it. But I hope she won’t get mad. I asked Wendy what is that all about. She grinned shyly. She said, the three girls are me, she and Marcel. M stands for Marcel, W stands for Wendy and V stands for veta. And we called ourselves “che”. hmmmmm was that so sweet? I am not sooo sure if she drew the right “veta” bec what she had drawn is the opposite of what is the real picture of veta- hehehe. Anyways, I was grateful for the effort she exerted just to show to me how she valued our friendship. Me as their oldest friend, 1 decade or more I am older than them-hehehe..
As of now, I seldom meet them because they helped their parents in upbringing their family financially. After graduation, they worked. They stayed in the city. Though, I transferred now in the city, I never got a chance to meet them but they promised some other time they will meet me. So sad to note that W and M couldn’t do it to college due to money constraints but I hope someday they will find their dreams do come true.
I could picture out myself from them. Me, too, found difficulty to study college. If not the help from my mentor, Ma’am Soy, I couldn’t finish my college. And of course if it is not God’s will, everything will be put in vain. Why Ma’am Soy? Bec she was at that time the adviser of the CHED scholar. She was the one who approved the applicants to be a scholar. I was teary eyed that time bec the first attempt failed. I mean I did not pass. She met us. She said, she will give us a chance if we truly deserve to be a scholar if we can get good grades.
I never stopped applying for scholarship. I heard one congressman offering scholarships for those unprivileged yet deserving students a free tuition fee for college. I applied. Luckily, I was accepted. I also applied as SOG (student on grant) of our school. I was also accepted. SOG is a student school worker. I need to render 4 hours everyday to work. I was assigned at High School Computer Laboratory. Every Saturday I mopped the floor, cleaned the keyboards and the hard disk and wiped the tables. It was an easy job for me. In fact I enjoyed it. At least I experienced what it would be working like an ant hehehe. One more good news I received at that time was, I accepted as CHED scholar. Mam Soy approved my application for the second time. What a lucky person I was! I had three opps. I had 2 scholarship grants and SOG. But being greedy is not good, right? I gave up my first scholarship (from Congressman) and I stopped as SOG. Instead I was focusing as CHED scholar. God is good.
