Immunization Time!

Childhood vaccines are one of the great triumphs of modern medicine. Indeed, parents whose children are vaccinated no longer have to worry about their child's death or disability from whooping cough, polio, diphtheria, hepatitis, or a host of other infections.

Anlene: Free BoneHealth Check-Up

"Crrrrraaaaaccckkkk!"....OOOuuuuccchhhh! Shouted Boney. "What happened?" asked Calcey. "My ankle bone is aching. It is painful," replied Boney.
Calcey surveyed the ankle bone of Boney. She touched it and pressed it. Boney shouted loudly in pain.
"Boney, I think you have an Osteoporosis," said Calcey. "Osteoporosis? What is osteoporosis?" asked Boney.

Osteoporosis is a condition wherein the bones become fragile and brittle. This can eventually lead to stooping, fracture and even death. It is a serious disease that develops when bones lose minerals such as calcium.

Bone breakdown begins at age 35. (Ehem.. getting closer with this ideal age :-)) Maximum bone mass is achieved 30-35 years old. Until this age, bone continues to gradually increase in mass and density, as calcium and other minerals are deposited. However, after that age of 35, bone breakdown can start to outweigh bone formation, which can eventually lead to a gradual decline in bone mass and strength.

Ris factors of Osteoporosis:
- age
- post-menopausal period
- cigarette smoking
- excessive alcohol drinking
- excessive caffeine consumption
- family history
- personal history of fracture
- body nutritional intake of calcuim and Vitamin D
- inactive lifestyle

Though Osteoporosis is an incurable disease, it may be prevented by following steps:
- have a diet rich in essential nutrients such as calcium and Vitamin D.
- be physically active and partake in sports and outdoor activities regularly.
- avoid smoking, alcohol drinks and excessive caffeine.
- get a bone health check at least twice a year and consult your doctor on bone health.
- drink Anlene and start preventing osteoporosis.

This morning, the Anlene representatives visited our "sanctuary". They conducted free bone health check-up. I engaged myself with this activity. This can be happen only once in a blue moon:-). Luckily, the result was good. It said, I am low risk of osteoporosis. But, it doesn't mean, I have to take it for granted and stop drinking milk with high calcium content.

They gave samples of Anlene milk and Anlene chocolate flavor in a cup. One cup of Anlene milk is quite tasty. They also sold Anlene milk 180g in low prices compared to the grocery stores.

Thank you, Anlene.

Health Crisis

last Oct 27, my mother went to the doctor for health check- up. she diagnosed that her kidneys didn't function well. the doctor said that one of the main functions of kidneys is to produce blood cells. in case of my mother's kidney, it can't produce red blood cells. the doctor advised that she can't undergo blood donation because she has hypertension. the only resort she should undertake is through dialysis. so, every saturday, she will visit her doctor for the injection for anemia.

picture above is my mother and my niece, honey. pictures taken at the clinic of Dr. D. this afternoon.
